Building Services provides all aspects of Building Control under the Building Act (2004) across Manawatu District Council (MDC) and Palmerston North City Council (PNCC).
It is based on the Palmerston North City Council Building Consent Authority providing its services under contract to Manawatu District Council with both Councils working in partnership.

PNCC Discussion document on Possible Residential Growth Areas - A Council discussion document on possible site for future residential growth in Palmerston North over the next 20 years was released in July. The document assesses a range of urban growth, economic and social / cultural objectives for each site. The closing date for submissions was Friday 21 August but if you have important aspects you would like to raise with the Council or would like more information please contact Andrew Brown - andrew.brown@pncc.govt.nz
PNCC District Plan Review - The Council received 90 submissions to the first stage of the review and is summarising and analysing the submissions received. The review is being handled with an open consultation process so if you have additional aspects you wish to raise with the Council please contact David Murphy - david.murphy@pncc.govt.nz

Below are the appropriate check sheets that are used as the basis of assessing Building Consent applications and for on site inspections. The intent of publishing these check sheets is to assist the Development Community with the submission of Consent Applications and preparing for inspections.
Please note:
- The check sheets are intended as a guide only and more information/detail may be required. Check sheets are a start point for processing/inspecting as all eventualities cannot be covered in any check sheet.
- The references on the sheets are a guide to commonly used solutions. Any building solution or method put forward to demonstrate compliance for alternative solutions will be assessed against the requirements of the Building Code.
- The checklists are subject to ongoing system improvements and therefore may change from time to time. This website will contain the most recent version of any check sheet.
