Ferguson Street and Awapuni Recycling Centres
- Any paper and cardboard
- Cans - Aluminium and Steel
- Plastics (Types 1 & 2 Only) - Softdrink bottles, milk bottles, etc, must be washed and squashed and have their tops removed
- Bags
- Packing Material - Polystyrene foam
- Margarine Containers
- Glass: Bottles/Jar - separated into clear/brown/green and blue
- Clothing /cloth
Awapuni Recycling Centre only
- Car bodies (seats, engine, tyres, glass,and rubbish must be removed first)
- Engine/Motor Oil
The following items should now be taken to a waste transfer station:
- Freezers and Fridges
- Microwaves
- Ovens
- Other whiteware
- Computers

Location and Hours of Recycling Centres
Awapuni Recycling Centre (at the end of Maxwells Line)
Hours:
Monday to Saturday 7.30am – 4.30pm
Sunday 12.00pm - 4.00pm
Closed on: Good Friday, Anzac Day until 1pm, Christmas Day
Ferguson Street Recycling Centre (corner of Ferguson Street and Albert Street)
Hours:
Monday to Friday 7.30am – 4.30pm
Saturday 8.00am - 4.30pm
Sunday 10.00am - 3.00pm
The site is unmanned on Public Holidays, however there is provision to drop off material when the site is closed.
