Caccia Birch house is a Historical Places Trust Category 1 listed property in the Palmerston North District Plan. All fee’s charged are used to assist in the maintenance and operation of the property for the enjoyment of the whole community and also to promote its use for educational and cultural purposes.

Caccia Birch House is owned by the Palmerston North City Council and administered by Caccia Birch Trust Board who employs a manager to operate the property on their behalf.

The History of Caccia Birch

Named after the family who gifted the property, the original house was built in 1895 for Norwegian saw miller Jacob Nannestad and his family. The Scandinavian influence is evident in architect Ludolf Georg West’s design.
