Local Initiatives Funding

It can be extremely difficult to get a good idea off the ground or for a new group to emerge without funding.

The Local Initiatives Fund was established in the 1999-2000 Annual Plan to assist local initiatives which contribute towards the achievement of the Community Outcomes and more specifically the Community Development Plan.

Aim

This fund is designed to support the creation of:

  • new and unique community groups or initiatives
  • new and unique activities that benefit the community
  • To promote the establishment or growth of new initiatives, a project can be funded through the fund for a maximum of two years.

Available Funds

$25,000.
Projects can be funded to a maximum of $25,000.

What sort of work do we want to fund?

The project or activity must:

  • Have a local focus, benefit the community of Palmerston North
  • Contribute towards the achievement of at least one of the PNCC Community Outcomes
  • Be unique.  This is a chance to pilot something new and innovative.
  • Be viable and likely to have ongoing success

The new initiative may be something that:

  • Increases satisfaction with the local environment by making it cleaner or more attractive
  • Increases the safety of local residents by helping to reduce the impact of crime or the likelihood of offending
  • Helps to raise the confidence, skills and self-esteem of local people
  • Promotes networking or partnership working between community groups and local businesses

Examples of projects funded previously:
