Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History

Te Manawa is Palmerston North’s museum of art, science and history.

Photo of about 15 young children sitting in front and on top of sculptured letters that say Te Manawa.

Te Manawa is a store house of regionally and nationally important collections of Tāonga Māori, New Zealand contemporary art, social and natural history.

It also hosts touring exhibitions, acquired on loan from throughout New Zealand, Australia and other parts of the world. These are supported by education programmes, special events and workshops.

Te Manawa is the cultural heart of our city, reflecting our growing region and its people.

Several of our exhibitions were created here at Te Manawa, including

  • Te Awa - The River,
  • Heart of Manawatū,
  • Manawatū Journeys,
  • Te Rangi Whenua, and
  • Kids TM.
