On 19 December 2008 Environment Minister Nick Smith announced that due to the national significance of the wind farm proposal at Turitea, a Board of Inquiry chaired by an Environment Court Judge would be formed to decide whether or not the wind farm should be permitted to proceed.
The Board of Inquiry has now delivered its draft decision which has been circulated to interested parties for comment. Under the Resource Management Call-in process, only the applicant, the affected councils, the submitters and the Minister for the Environment are invited to comment on the draft report and decision.
Comments must be submitted by 12 May 2011, there is currently no scheduled date for the release of the final decision.
