The properties include commercial property, vacant land, parks and reserves and the Council would like to hear resident's thoughts before it makes a decision.
The Council have shortlisted a number of properties as not delivering value and which could be sold with monies used for other purposes.
"Some of the pieces of land appear to be pretty straight forward." Aaron Phillips senior property and parks planner said. "They have not been providing any value to the community and selling them seems to make perfect sense. Others are more debateable. An important step in the decision making process is to learn what people know about the various pieces of land that Council does not know and what importance people attach to them."
The fifteen properties are under consideration, are:
- Part of Springdale Reserve, Aokautere
- Part of Ruapehu Drive Reserve, Aokautere
- Bowen Street, Linton
- Part of Panako Reserve, Awapuni
- Part of Pioneer Reserve, Awapuni
- Part of Waterloo Park/Waterloo Cres Reserves, Hokowhitu
- Part of Hind Park/Willowbank Reserve, Hokowhitu
- Part of Hardie Street Reserve, Hokowhitu
- Salisbury Street Reserve, Ashhurst
- Durham Street Road Reserve, Ashhurst
- Works Pit, Ashhurst
- Deer Park, Ashhurst
- Amberley Avenue Reserve, western side, Takaro
- Andrew Young Street Car Park, CBD
- George Street Shops, CBD
Proceeds from the sale of land would be spent according to what the land is designated as. Under the Reserves Act money gained from sale is to be spent on purchasing or developing other reserves. If it is a park the same principle would apply. If it is neither then the monies can be used at the Council's discretion.
