"This Trust is focused on the welfare of families, and donations will be given to people who suffered in the flood and need essentials," says Trust Chairperson Eric Linklater.
People who need assistance from the Trust should talk with the Welfare Unit of their local council who will help them with the application process. Applications close on 20 July.
The Manawatū-Wanganui Regional Disaster Relief Fund Trust was set up 11 years ago. The Trustees are made up of representatives from all local authorities in the region and they distribute donations to local authority and community trusts and organisations.
Generous donations and pledges from central and local government, individuals and organisations have boosted the amount the Trust can make available to flood victims for welfare needs to over half a million dollars.
"We are delighted with the generosity of central and local government," says Chairperson Eric Linklater. "However flood victims still have a long way to go to help individuals recover from this event and we would still appreciate donations from the public."
Donations can be made to the Manawatū-Wanganui Regional Disaster Relief Fund Trust Westpac account, 03 07280411355-00
