Skatepark upgrade approved

Tuesday October 20 2015

The existing facility is to be extended and improved with core features including a new 2.4 metre deep skatebowl, a mini pump track and a host of smaller targeted improvements for the 2015/16 Financial Year.

"Constructing these core features will bring the facility up to a modern standard and build upon its existing strengths," says Palmerston North City Council Leisure Assets Planner Jeff Baker.

The 13 year-old skatepark's proposed design has arisen out of a collaborative approach with local enthusiasts over the last four years and the expertise of a specialist skatepark designer.

Following resource consent approval, construction is expected to begin early 2016.
