Love your Esplanade

Thursday May 4 2017

What does Victoria Esplanade mean to you? Share what you love about the Esplanade through our new social media campaign #MyEsplanade.

"The Esplanade is our city's most popular park and this campaign is about sharing what you love about the iconic space," PNCC Senior Planner Jeff Baker says.

Share your photos, videos and memories using the hashtag #MyEsplanade on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Jaspreet Kaur's family love the train. She shared this photo with us on Facebook.

"We want to know what you love about the Esplanade to help guide us with our future plans," Mr Baker says. "It’s a great way to catch memories from today, or 40 years ago. We are working with the Manawatū Heritage team, so your stories can be preserved and shared with future generations."

This photo from the Manawatū Heritage website shows children on the Esplanade Scenic Railway, not long after it opened on 31 October 1969.

Do you have an older photo of the Esplanade? We would love to see it.

Pop into City Library if you want to share your hardcopy photo – the Manawatū Heritage team is based on the 2nd floor.
