The term tertiary education in New Zealand describes all post-school education and training. Tertiary providers include 35 public institutions, including eight universities, 20 institutes of technology and polytechnics, four colleges of education, and three wänanga.
There are also 43 industry training organisations, and some 800 private training establishments, which include English language schools.
