Integrated Transport Strategy

This strategy provides guidance to Council and other organisations on where to invest in the transport system over the coming three decades.

The Integrated Transport Strategy supports transport choices as part of an easy to use and efficient transport system that meets the needs of people, businesses, and the environment.

It provides direction and guidance to the Council and other organisations on where to invest in the development of the city’s transport system during the next 30 years, to 2045.

Balancing the needs of all road users and improving the use and effectiveness of the transport network, while responding to and supporting population growth, economic activity and environmental sustainability are key challenges for the Council.

The Integrated Transport Strategy focuses on how the Council can achieve three major transport drivers:

  • optimise use, access and movement
  • encourage walking and cycling
  • build resilience

The strategy was adopted by Council in November 2015.
