Rubbish Services & Facilities

The Waste Minimisation plan was adopted by Council in November 2006, and was updated in 2009. The emphasis of the plan is to reduce the percentage of disposed waste and increase the amount of reused, recovered and recycled material from 30% to 50% by 2012.

Council facilities include:

  • Awapuni Resource Recovery Park
  • Awapuni Resource Recovery Park Drop off Centre
  • Ferguson Street Recycling Drop off Centre
  • Ashhurst Recycling Drop off Centre
  • Ashhurst transfer station 

Rubbish Collections Days by Area

Rufuse Collection Areas and Days

Rubbish will be collected on the day indicated for your area of the city, except when your collection day falls on either Easter Friday or Christmas (Xmas) Day in which case the rubbish will be collected the following Saturday.

Ashhurst Transfer Station/ Recycling drop off Centre

The Ashhurst Transfer Station owned and operated by Palmerston North City Council.

Location:
Mulgrave Street, Ashhurst

Hours of operation are:
Tuesdays 1pm to 3pm
Saturdays 10am to 4pm

Prices   

Please note there is no EFTPOS at Ashhurst Transfer station

Approve the following list of green waste & household waste charges be applied at the Ashhurst Transfer Station (GST inclusive) at 1 October 2007 and that these fees be included as a new Second Schedule of the Palmerston North Fees Bylaw replacing the existing Second Schedule:
