I have found the Council a fascinating place.
This is because of the immense variety of activities and projects the Council is engaged in, the diverse background and skills of staff, and the degree of change which has become rapid in recent years.
I first worked for the Council in a part-time capacity in the 1960s and early 1970s, but did not join the full-time permanent staff until 1983, having worked as a lawyer in private practice. Over the last 25 years, I have held a number of positions in the administrative and legal areas, and have worked closely with senior staff and City Councilors.
Palmerston North is a neat place because of its central location and amenities. There are excellent cultural and recreational facilities and, sometimes, the weather can be good too. Having Massey University nearby has allowed me to continue part-time studies.
