Health and safety

Palmerston North City Council is committed to a healthy and safe working environment for its employees and anyone who comes into contact with the Council and its activities.

All applicants for employment in safety sensitive positions must undergo a drug test before being employed and applicants for employment outside of safety sensitive positions may be required to undergo a pre-employment drug test at Council's discretion.

The Council's Drug and Alcohol policy also allows for good cause, random, and post-incident testing.

In applicable areas of employment credit checks, Ministry of Justice criminal conviction checks, and visa checks may be undertaken to assess candidate suitability for a position.
