We're preparing our work plan for the coming year.

What is the Annual Budget?

Every year we prepare an Annual Budget (formally known as the Annual Plan) based on the city’s 10 Year Plan. This year’s budget contains an outline of the Council’s plans for 2017-18.

The Annual Budget has an impact on your rates and Council’s debt. We asked people to keep that in mind while looking at the changes we’re proposing and answering the following questions:

  • Are we on track?
  • What do you like about what we’ve proposed?
  • What don’t you like?
  • If you believe rates are too high, which programmes would you like removed or reduced?

For more information see the consultation document and supporting information below. Copies of the consultation document can also be picked up from Council or any branch of the City Library.

10 Year Plan

The 10 Year Plan for our city is reviewed and updated every three years. This is so our vision and goals remain relevant. Ahead of our consultation (which is still a few months away) we asked you to answer the following questions:

  • What are the biggest challenges facing our city?
  • What are our biggest opportunities?

Submissions on the proposed Annual Budget for 2017-18 closed on Tuesday 18 April.
