I hold the position of General Manager City Networks which sees me lead the Unit responsible for all of Council's infrastructural assets; the roads, utility services (water supply, wastewater & stormwater disposal), parks, buildings and properties.
As such, City Networks must ensure each asset is adequately maintained in order to provide the level of service expected from it by the community. Currently these assets are valued at $1.3 billion and they are steadily expanding as Palmerston North continues to grow.
I have been with Palmerston North City Council since 1984 and have appreciated the opportunities over that time to hold a number of positions which have enabled me to develop as a civil engineer and as a local government manager. During much of 2007 I had the pleasure of being the Acting Chief Executive, which was a demanding and challenging job. It gave me further insights into the diverse range of activities involving local government.
