As general manager of city networks I lead the unit responsible for all of Council's infrastructure assets and utility services: roads, parks, buildings and properties, the water supply, wastewater and stormwater disposal.
City networks ensures each asset is adequately maintained to provide the level of service expected from it by the community. These assets are valued at more than $1.3 billion and they are steadily expanding as Palmerston North continues to grow.
I've been with Palmerston North City Council since 1984, and have appreciated the opportunities over that time to hold a number of positions which have enabled me to develop as a civil engineer and a local government manager. During much of 2007 I had the pleasure of being the acting chief executive, which was a demanding and challenging job that gave me more insight into the diverse range of activities involving local government.
