We're preparing a draft structure plan to guide future growth and urban development in Aokautere.

Located south of Palmerston North, Aokautere is currently a mix of residential and rural land. To ensure sustainable growth in the area, we're looking at providing more residential and rural-residential (lifestyle) land for housing.

Once finalised, we propose to incorporate the structure plan into the District Plan through a plan change. The plan change process will provide an opportunity for you to make a formal submission.

The creation of this structure plan has been guided by our City Development Strategy, which includes the following statement: "Substantial greenfield housing capacity remains at Aokautere but plans for developing the remaining residential land are unclear. Council will develop a structure plan with the major landowners to guide future development. The end of Pacific Drive needs to be connected with existing roads in the Turitea Valley."
