Council & City

Natural and Cultural Heritage Incentive Fund

If you’re thinking about making repairs or improvements to a listed Palmerston North heritage building, or have an event or publication in mind that will promote our city’s heritage resources – you may be able to get financial help.

Council offers three funds to assist with heritage projects:

  • Promoting Palmy Heritage supports community-led heritage education, research or promotion projects.
  • Protecting Palmy Heritage helps owners look after our most significant heritage buildings and sites. The fund is available for conservation, maintenance, repair, and restoration of scheduled heritage buildings and sites.
  • Strengthening Palmy Heritage supports investment in scheduled heritage and street character buildings which require structural upgrade. Grant funding is targeted to structural works (and the associated fire safety and accessibility upgrades) on earthquake-prone buildings.
