Revised fees and charges: Environmental Health, Building, Animal Control, Burial and Cremation

The Council has reviewed its fees and charges for a range of services and hereby gives public notice of the results of that review, which were adopted by resolution at a meeting of the Council on 25 March 2020.

These new fees and charges will be effective from 1 July 2020.

Fees and charges for environmental health, building, animal impounding and burial and cremation will be increased by approximately 3%.

Copies of the detailed fees and charges are available below or can be inspected and/or obtained at Council’s Customer Service Centre on The Square.

Dog registration fees for 2020-21

Dog registration fees are imposed under the Dog Control Act and are necessary to recover the cost to the Palmerston North City Council of providing animal control services.

The fees for 2020-21 (GST inclusive) are as follows:

Disability assist and specified agency are as defined in section 2 of the Dog Control Act 1996.

Owners of dogs that were previously categorised as ‘Rural non-working’ can make application for preferred owner status otherwise a general registration fee will apply.

We have also introduced an application fee for preferred owner status. This is a one-off fee of $60 that will be charged for applications from 1 July onwards.
