The current building is rundown. At more than 30 years old, it no longer meets modern standards, but it is beyond repair and needs to be replaced.
When we upgrade the building we’re also going to modify and extend it to include a bonsai house.
We’re working with the Manawatū Bonsai Club and Council horticultural staff to determine what that would look like.

Council has a bonsai collection in storage at our nursery, donated by the family of the late John Birch.
This project is subject to external funding.
We look forward adding to the wonderful botanical displays in the Esplanade.
