Accessibility information

Wheelchairs, Ear-plugs and chill-out spaces

Head along to our information tent to pick-up free earplugs or hire a wheelchair. We also have a new chill-out space under the trees, near the children's playground. There will be bean bags and earplugs available under marquees, as well as some textile items from the Sensory Room at EASIE Living. At 2pm we have a cake cutting to acknowledge Palmerston North’s 150th. There will be speeches before we hand out free cupcakes. The speeches will be interpreted into NZ Sign Language.

Animals and Noise on Site

Explore Esplanade Day is an exciting and vibrant event, but there might be some things that overwhelm people. There will be animals onsite including the Greyhounds as Pets team and the Massey Vet Animal Rescue. The NZ Police and NZ Army will have activities and stalls and might be in full uniform. We also have two stages with live music and performances, so there will be loud noises. You might also spot some flashing lights and loud noises at amusement rides by the duck pond.
