The future use of Huia Street Reserve

We’re proposing some changes for how Huia Street Reserve, on the corner of Park Road and Fitzherbert Avenue, might be used in the future. Council’s preferred option is to enable the sale or development of the reserve for housing.

Photo shows artist's impression of what the reserve could look like with medium-density housing.

An artist's impression of what the land could look like with medium-density homes.

To achieve this, we'll need to amend the Palmerston North Reserves Act 1992 and/or the Palmerston North Reserve Empowering Act 1996, and the District Plan.

Before making a formal decision on the future use of Huia Street Reserve, we'd like to hear what you think about our preferred option and the alternatives outlined in the statement of proposal.
