Freyberg learner pool to reopen end of the month

Wednesday February 21 2018

Freyberg Community Pool is on track to reopen its popular learners pool on Monday 26 February.

The learners pool will be back in action next week.

The learner pool was closed for repairs and has since been grouted, retiled and resealed. Community Leisure Management (CLM) will be refilling the pool on Sunday 25 February and heating it to the required temperature.

“We appreciate the patience of the pool users and CLM. We’re on track for the pool to reopen for public use by the end of the month,” says Glen Finlayson, Palmerston North City Council Leisure Assets Officer.

“Safety is of paramount importance and we want to ensure all things are working as they were designed. We apologise for any inconvenience the temporary closure may have caused.”

All other facilities at the Freyberg Community Pool are operating as usual.

“We’d like to thank the public for their patience during this maintenance period. Our popular pre-school swimming and water safety classes will now transfer back to the learners pool,” says Nathan Larnach, Freyberg Community Pool Manager.

“The learners pool gets a lot of use from both the local and wider community, so we’re really excited for it to be up and running again,” Mr Larnach says.
