Road closures

Roads in Palmerston North may be closed for lots of reasons, including roadworks and events. This page lists planned road closures that may result in detours and delays, as well as other situations when you might need to take extra care to look out for other road users.

Scheduled roadworks

Fitchett Street

Saturday 7 October

Number 40 Fitchett Street will be burned down. The street will be closed from 20 Fitchett Street to Ward Street and 29 Pirie Street to Fitchett Street. If delayed by weather, this will be rescheduled for 14 October.

250 Flygers Line to Rangitikei Line (SH No. 3)

18 September to 7 October

Flygers Line will be closed to through traffic to allow contractors to repair a gas main. All houses in Flygers Line can be accessed from Gillespies Line.

Edgeware Road (off Rangitikei)

20 June until September

7am-7pm, Monday to Friday

Kerb and channel replacement, new vehicle crossings, construction of grass berms, and improvements to pedestrian facilities so it's easier to cross the road.

Birmingham Street (between Seddon and Liverpool)

20 June until September

7am-7pm, Monday to Friday
