Building inspections to resume at alert level 3

Tuesday April 21 2020

Palmerston North City Council building inspectors will begin inspections again next Tuesday, 28 April, starting with those which had to be cancelled because of the lockdown.

The Prime Minister yesterday announced the relaxing of Covid-19 alert level 4, with alert level 3 coming into effect from 11.59pm on Monday 27 April.

We're pleased to confirm for our construction and development community that we will be proceeding with inspections in alert level 3.

We have kept a record of all inspections that were cancelled and where they sat in relation to others. If you previously had an inspection booked that we had to cancel, we’ll be in touch with you to book a new inspection time.

Inspections will recommence in line with alert level 3 on Tuesday 28 April.

Please be aware, our inspection time frames are heavy, and will remain so once we’ve re-booked all of the cancelled inspections – this means we won't immediately be able to accommodate new bookings. We’ll advise when you can make a booking for a new inspection.

While we're still considering exactly how inspections will happen on site, please be prepared to answer questions around how your site and staff are managing health and safety, physical distancing and contact tracing.

We will advise exactly what you’ll be required to provide and how your inspection will work before your inspection date.

We understand how important it is to manage inspections as efficiently and safely as possible, and we have increased our capacity to ensure we're providing as much support as possible to the sector during this time.

If you have any questions about your inspection, please contact us at buildingadmin@pncc.govt.nz.
