Council holds first remote meeting

Today Council held its first formal meeting since lockdown began.

The virtual meeting was attended by 45 people. The Mayor and Councillors were joined by Council's executive leadership team, officers speaking to reports, the Manawatū Standard and representatives from Caccia Birch, the Globe, Regent and Te Manawa.

“It was a new chapter in the governance of Palmerston North City today as we approach our 150th year, with its first ever full Council meeting totally online in an audio visual setting. It was a pleasure to chair as Mayor and I’m sure we will see the use of digital tools such as Teams and Zoom meetings in Council business much more,” says Mayor Smith.

The meeting was recorded and is available on our meetings page.

All Council and committee meeting agendas and minutes are also available online.
