Applications are open for the Jaycee Trust Travelling Fund

Monday September 27 2021

Have you got study or project aspirations? A grant of up to $5,000 for travel costs might be just the ticket to help you get there.

Palmerston North City Council administers the Jaycee Trust Travelling Fellowship Scheme. The scheme offers travel costs grants to enable young people to study or engage in projects, to enhance their contribution to the community, trade, industry, profession, business or calling.

If you are under 40 and a New Zealand citizen, you could be eligible. International and national travel projects might be eligible and will be considered for the 2021 funding round, taking the Covid-19 travel restrictions into account.

“If your proposal is for an international project, your application must include details of an alternative project within New Zealand that can be undertaken if travel restrictions prevent you completing the international project,” Cr Lorna Johnson, Chair of the Committee for the Jaycee Trust, explains.

Applications for the 2021 Jaycee Trust Travel Fund will close on Wednesday 27 October. A full list of application criteria and how to apply is available on the Council’s website:

“Successful applicants will need to submit a project report to the Selection Panel within three months after returning,” Cr Johnson concludes.
