Ashhurst water supply restored

Tuesday October 9 2018

Palmerston North City Council advises that the Ashhurst water supply is now restored, following the replacement of a water main that burst overnight.

“There may be some water discolouration, however it’s safe for drinking,” says Robert van Bentum, PNCC Transport and Infrastructure Manager.

“We recommend people delay washing laundry 'til the water’s clear, to avoid staining clothes.”

Council is providing free bottled water for residents who prefer to use it until the water is clear. It will be available to collect from the Ashhurst Library from 7am on Wednesday.

“There is currently not enough water supply for people to run their taps for lengthy periods. Tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon, the water supply level is expected to be back to normal.”

A water tanker is still on site at Lincoln Park carpark until 8pm (Tuesday) for those who want to fill their own containers.

Palmerston North City Council thanks Ashhurst residents for their patience and understanding. Council’s Facebook page will be updated if there is any further information.
