The group’s purpose is to ensure a voice for the disability sector.
Debbie Duncan, PNCC General Manager – Community, says the Council-approved entity was recently established following a series of meetings involving representatives of the city’s disability community and others associated with the sector.
“We want to give people living with disabilities an opportunity to inform Council’s planning and decision-making processes at a strategic level, as well as identify any shortfalls in our procedures that could affect them.”
Mrs Duncan says maintaining a connected and safe community for those with disabilities requires strong relationships and good communication channels to make sure there are practical and inclusive perspectives on Council decision-making.
Nominations from disability organisations, communities of interest, as well as from interested individuals can be made to firstname.lastname@example.org before 10 September 2018.
