Ho ho ho is go! (with some small changes)

Thursday November 11 2021

Hold on for deer life, the festive fun is about to start!

While our Christmas celebrations will look a little different this year, we’re still rounding out 2021 in style with a Very Palmy Christmas.

Palmy residents will be treated to a weekend of festivities starting with the annual Christmas concert on Saturday 4 December in The Regent on Broadway.

The show will run for around 90 minutes. Make sure you keep an eye out for Santa as he joins in on the action!

Christmas parade at the Arena

The next day will see the annual Christmas Parade take to Central Energy Trust Arena, starting at 2pm on Sunday 5 December.

The parade will be going around the speedway track, it’s going to be loud and lots of fun!

Palmerston North City Council Head of Events, Luke McIndoe says float organisers are encouraged to incorporate Palmerston North 150th commemorations into their float design.

“The theme is Christmas through the ages, to commemorate 2021 as Palmerston North’s 150th year. We hope to see fond childhood memories, vintage designs and snippets of Palmy’s history incorporated throughout the parade.”

People can register their float for the parade online.

Due to Level 2 restrictions this year both these events will be ticketed, though tickets are FREE and no administration fees will be charged. Tickets will be available from Monday the 15 November from the Regent and Arena, or via Ticketek.

Keep an eye on the PNCC website at pncc.govt.nz/christmas or our Facebook page for any updates.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions on social distancing there will be no tree lighting event in the Square this year, but it will still be decorated.

We will be following all Covid-19 guidelines for both these events. Masks will be mandatory and please sign in using the QR codes provided.
