A new government system for identifying and managing earthquake-prone buildings came into force on 1 July this year.
The information session aims to help building owners with the new requirements and timeframes that both they and Council are now required to work to.
Some of the main points to be discussed at the session are:
- Palmerston North is in a high risk seismic zone: what that means for implementation
- Building types: priority and non-priority
- Determining priority buildings and timeframes
- Five key steps for non-priority buildings
Council will be carrying out a staged approach to implementing the new system, effective from 1 January 2018.
More information on the new approach to earthquake-prone buildings is available on the government's building performance website.
