Palmerston North City Council is inviting young people to kickstart their international careers and add to their CVs by becoming ambassadors for the city.

Open to Palmerston North residents aged between 18 and 24 years, Palmy Global Ambassadors is an opportunity to gain international knowledge, insight, experience and contacts through unpaid work experience.

“Palmy Global Ambassadors will develop skills while supporting the city’s international partnerships,” says Toni Grace, International Relations Manager for the Palmerston North City Council.

“Palmerston North is one of the most culturally diverse provincial cities in New Zealand, and the ethnic mix continues to grow. We’re a refugee resettlement centre, and we host hundreds of international students, researchers and business people.

“We’re also a city that loves celebrating our diverse, multicultural community during the Festival of Cultures, and at the regular national day events observed by our many different cultural communities."

Mrs Grace says there is plenty of opportunity to interact with these communities, and the Global Ambassadors programme will open possibilities for involvement at globally focused events, visits, conferences, and community projects.

Deadline for applications extended to 25 October

Applications for the first annual intake, which involve making a short video, are now open.
