Palmerston North City Library’s Youth Space is getting into the festive spirit, hosting 12 Days of Christmas from December 1 to 12.

Organised activities began on Sunday with a Facebook contest, followed by a Decoration Station on Monday. On Tuesday (3 December), Christmas carols will ring out, and Christmas cards will be made on Wednesday (4 December). Get your bake on with shortbread making on 5 December, and make gift tags on 6 December.

Wind down with Movie and Chill on 7 December, then take part in a Facebook competition on 8 December, before carrying out random acts of kindness on 9 December. It’s story time on 10 December, with a reading of David Clegg’s book The Ants, Mayor Grant, Sir Patrick and the Old Tar Laying Machine. Get a little crazy with indoor snow bowling on 11 December, before the Co-Lab picnic by the tree on 12 December.

Youth Space team leader Debbie Christian says the festive events are open to young people aged 13 to 19 to drop in and enjoy.

“We are hoping to inspire creativity and festive cheer. The activity spectrum gives great ways to bust school holiday boredom and to experience what Youth Space has to offer the young people of Palmerston North.”

Other December events planned for Youth Space include strawberry picking on 17 December, and a visit from Dancing with the Stars’ William Waiirua on 18 December, before Youth Space’s Christmas thank-you lunch on 19 December.
