Palmy's new Star Path lights up the Manawatū River

Friday October 16 2020

The name of the path is a Rangitāne whakataukī: Tini whetū ki te rangi, ko Rangitāne nui ki te whenua. Like the myriad of stars in the sky, so are the people of great Rangitāne upon the land.

Photo shows aerial view of illuminated pathway alongside the river.

The kowhaiwhai pattern was designed by Rangitāne Tohunga Whakairo Warren Warbrick.

It's close to the awa's Albert Street entrance, but this awesome view is taken from Te Motu o Poutoa (Anzac Park).

The path contains small stones which absorb the light during the day and then cause the path to glow at night.
