Possible traffic delays on Fitzherbert Bridge from Monday 12 October

Friday October 9 2020

Next week we’re cleaning the rails of the Fitzherbert Bridge, and in order to keep our cleaning crew safe, we'll have some traffic management in place which could cause some delays.

We’ll be using a water blaster, but no chemicals, to clean the railing. We’ve also got nets to catch any lichen or debris that comes off to prevent it going in our river.

The work will start on Monday 12 October and could take up to three days.

Our crew will be on site from 7am with work starting around 8.30am and we’ll be finished by 4pm each day.

To conduct this work, we’ll be doing one side at a time, and the lane closest to the bridge will be closed while that side is being cleaned.

We’re starting with the outbound side, so if you’re heading to Massey Uni the Horowhenua or Wellington on Monday, please be aware there could be some minor delays during these times.

Pedestrians and bike riders will be diverted under the bridge for this work.

Thanks for your patience.
