Tennent Drive road closure: 25 to 27 June

Friday June 21 2019

People travelling between the city to Massey University, Food HQ Science Park, Linton or Wellington may need to build extra time into their commutes next week, as a key section of Tennent Drive will be closed.

Two very large trees need to be removed from the stretch of Tennent Drive from the Fitzherbert Bridge to just past Food HQ Science Park. If left, they could become a safety risk.

The removal is happening on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with the road closed intermittently between 9.15am and 3.45pm each day.

Buses will be allowed through the road but all other vehicles will be diverted via Old West Road and Summerhill Road.

The detour is shown in yellow.

People wanting to access FoodHQ Science Park and Massey University can enter the road via the Sports Institute Area of Massey University, drive through the campus and cross the street to the various science centres.

We know this will add time to your journeys, and we thank you for your patience.

Your safety is our priority and removing these trees will keep all our road users safer in the future.

We are doing the work next week as Massey University is on mid-year break, so fewer people will be disrupted.
