Waitangi Day rubbish and recycling

Wednesday February 3 2021

Our recycling facilities will be open this Waitangi Day, and we're ready to take those things that no longer bring you joy.

Ferguson Street Recycling Centre accepts lots of things for recycling: paper, plastic, glass and tins, used motor and cooking oil, and e-waste like batteries, computers, televisions and other household appliances. We'll even take that box of old cables! Please note, some items will incur a fee.

If you've been decluttering at home, the upcoming long weekend is an excellent opportunity to offload some of those things you've been hoarding.

Because Waitangi is Monday-ised this year, we'll be operating public holiday hours at our Palmy facilities on Saturday 6 and Monday 8 February.

Ferguson Street Recycling Centre will be open from 10am to 3pm both days for your recycling, e-waste, children's car seats, and used motor and cooking oil.

Awapuni Resource Recovery Centre will be open between 12pm and 4pm and can take your green waste and recycling.

Ashhurst Transfer Station will be open normal hours: 10am to 4pm on Saturday, and closed on Monday.

Kerbside collections will happen as usual

If you normally have Monday pick-ups, please put your bins out by 7.30am.
