Final representation arrangements: 2022 local elections

On 11 October 2021 the Palmerston North City Council gave public notice of its final proposal for representation arrangements to apply for the Council for the elections to be held on 8 October 2022.

Notification of the right to appeal or object was also given. No appeals or objections were received in respect of the resolution, therefore the representation arrangements for the Palmerston North City Council's 2022 local elections will be the same as in the final proposal.

Council representation

Palmerston North City Council will comprise of two wards.

  • Te Hirawanui General Ward as delineated on Plan LG-040-2013-W-1 deposited with the Local Government Commission, to be represented by 13 general ward councillors (elected by those electors citywide on the general electoral roll)
  • Te Pūao Māori Ward as delineated on Plan LG-040-2013-W-1 deposited with the Local Government Commission to be represented by two Māori ward councillors (elected by those electors citywide on the Māori electoral roll)

The Mayor will be elected at large.

Community board representation

No community boards will be established.
