Dittmer Reserve

Birdseye view of the reserve, bounded by the river on one side and Dittmer Drive on the other.

This reserve stretches the length of Dittmer Drive, alongside the bank of the Manawatū River. It's always a hive of activity!

The Manawatū River Shared Pathway travels through it so it's a great spot to bike, scoot or skate, go for a run or walk the dog. Or simply picnic on the grassy banks while you enjoy the sunset.

Dittmer Reserve is also one of the easiest ways to access He Ara Kotahi. The pedestrian and cycle bridge spans the river here, and the adjacent car park makes it the ideal starting point for anyone with accessibility needs.

Watch out for dogs and horses

The entire length of the river pathway is a bridle track, so you may see people riding horses through here. With the exception of the stretch between the Holiday Park and Fitzherbert Bridge, it's also a dog exercise area, where dogs may be walked off leash.

Dogs must be on a lead everywhere else in the reserve.

A busy walkway alongside the riverbank with lots of people biking, walking, and exercising dogs.
