Mountain biking

Thanks to Manawatū Mountain Bike Club and the tireless work of its members, Arapuke Forest Park is fast becoming one of the best places in New Zealand to ride your mountain bike. The park now has more than 30km of trails, from family-friendly grades two and three to grade six technical and jumps tracks for riders looking for the ultimate challenge.

Walking

Arapuke Forest Park is also popular with walkers. The national Te Araroa Trail runs along the shared track called Back Track and the various former logging roads create a loop back to the car park with great views out to the Manawatū plains.

A recreation hub

Arapuke Forest Park is part of the Kahuterawa outdoor recreation area, which also includes Kahuterawa Reserve, Sledge Track and Back Track, Gordon Kear Forest and Hardings Park. Together these areas are one of Palmy's favourite outdoor playgrounds, managed under the Kahuterawa Outdoor Recreation Plan.
