Tucked away in Kelvin Grove, Missoula Reserve is named after Palmerston North’s sister city, Missoula, Montana, USA.
The playground offers plenty to explore, with a play unit, swings, a spinner, climbing ropes, and interactive musical instruments.
As you wander through the reserve, keep an eye out for the signs sharing fun facts about Missoula and its special connection to Palmy.
In early 2026, the reserve received a fresh new look, with upgraded play equipment, refreshed landscaping, and a beautifully carved bench celebrating the sister-city relationship between Palmerston North and Missoula.
A new set of walking steps now links the reserve to Freedom Drive, which is perfect for an early morning stroll or an evening walk to take in the stunning sunrise or sunset views. Access to the steps is across the road, where you can also find one of our pop-up gyms.
