Keen to explore Palmy’s best heritage sites? Manawatū Heritage has launched an app that helps you do just that.

A Palmerston North City Library project, the app brings together community-initiated research, images and content from the award-winning Manawatū Heritage digital repository, to give locals and tourists a glimpse of the city's rich history.

The Manawatū Heritage Tours app has three self-guided tours:

  • Women's Places
  • Military Walking Tour
  • Military Driving Tour

Through historic photos and detailed overview of each location, the tours tell how women and the military have contributed to our city's development.

All the sites and stories in the app have been thoroughly curated and researched by our Heritage Team, in partnership with community organisations. With more tours planned in the future, we're excited to bring the city's heritage to life and keep it alive for next generations through this app.

The free app includes interactive maps and GPS enabling you to complete the tours at your own pace and time in full or in parts. It also sends notifications when you are near a heritage site.
