This policy provides transparency on Council’s process for the appointment and remuneration of directors to Council organisations. There is a separate policy for appointing directors to the Central Economic Development Agency (CEDA).

The Code of Conduct provides guidance to Council's elected members on expected standards of behaviour in their dealings with each other, Council officers, the media and members of the public.

Council believes it is essential, in the interests of good management and effective administration, to delegate decision-making to the lowest competent level. This will achieve best use of the abilities of elected representatives and officers, minimise costs, promote the development of effective managers and minimise bureaucratic interference in the daily affairs of residents.
