New Multicultural Hub

  • Completion Date30 April 2026

From February to the end of April, work is underway to fit out the new Multicultural Hub on the ground floor of Council’s Civic Administration Building.

This project is an important investment in Palmerston North’s future and was approved in the Long-Term Plan 2024-34.

The new community space is designed to accommodate up to 350 people. It includes a large multipurpose area for events, classes, workshops and activities, along with three smaller rooms suitable for meetings and group sessions.

The hub will also have a kitchen, office spaces, toilet facilities and a foyer, which will be great for indoor-outdoor events.

Construction timeline

Work began on 11 February 2026 and is expected to be completed by the end of April.

Making the most of our existing spaces

Originally, the plan was to lease a separate city centre facility for multicultural events. Following long-term plan consultation and deliberations, a more cost-effective and sustainable option was identified.

Rather than leasing another building in the city, the Multicultural Hub will now be located within the main Council building.
