Ashhurst residents can go back to using your water as usual. A big thank you for your patience and efforts to conserve water while we repaired the burst water main. You might notice some discoloured water tomorrow. If you do, please run your cold tap for up to 20 minutes. If it still doesn't run clear, give us a call.
Our team have repaired the leak and restored the drinking water supply. Linton, a huge thanks for your patience and understanding while we got this sorted.
David is the steady hand (and good humour) behind our collections team, making sure our city’s rubbish and recycling services run smoothly every day. He oversees the crew, coordinates the moving parts, and helps keep everything on track, all with his trademark calm, practical approach.
Outside of work, David switches gears completely. As a dedicated musician, he plays in the band Sweet Mother of Pearl with a few other council staff, and you’ll often find them performing live around town.
Music has been part of David’s life from the very beginning. With strong Rarotongan and Tahitian heritage, he grew up surrounded by rich vocal harmonies. Listening to family singing in church and at home was simply everyday life. That early sound shaped him, and music has stayed at the centre of who he is.
Whether he’s on stage or on the job, David brings heart, teamwork, and a genuine love of people to whatever he’s doing.
