Glen, Parks Project Officer
Say hello to Glen – our playground mastermind.
Chances are, you’ve already enjoyed one of Glen’s projects without even realising it. He’s the Parks Project Officer behind the awesome play spaces at Memorial Park, Milverton Park, the new Franklin playground and plenty more across the city. And those big, bright, giant chairs you may have spotted around town? That fun idea came straight from Glen.
Glen’s whole thing is making sure every playground has its own personality, not just the same swing-and-slide setup in a different spot. He’s always on the lookout for unique features that fit the area, spark imagination, and make kids light up the moment they arrive. He’s also a big believer in bringing the community along for the ride, choosing sustainable options where he can, and stretching the budget in smart ways so we get the most fun for every dollar.
What he loves most is the teamwork behind it all. Glen’s quick to shout out his crew who help turn the ideas into real spaces. He also enjoys working with local contractors and suppliers, keeping things local and building great relationships along the way. And at the heart of it: he genuinely enjoys knowing his work makes families happy, and that our parks and playgrounds are free for everyone to enjoy. That’s a pretty great legacy.
Glen’s been with council for eight years, but before that he was in the golf world, and he’s still a keen golfer outside work. When he’s not thinking about playgrounds, you’ll probably find him on the course, watching motorsport, or heading off for a fish. A top bloke with a good mix of adventure and downtime.
So yep, next time you see kids having the time of their lives at one of our parks, there’s a fair chance Glen had a hand in making that happen.
