Robyn, Parks Assurance

If you’ve wandered through Te Marae o Hine the Square lately, there’s a good chance you’ve noticed the gardens looking especially stunning. That’s thanks in no small part to our wonderful parks team, of which Robyn from Parks Assurance is a key member.

Robyn’s got a real eye for colour, balance and texture – and she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty to make sure every bed looks its best.

Robyn works with Craig and the team to bring bursts of life to the city centre. There’s a lot of thought behind it – what will thrive, what will complement, what will make people stop and smile. And, of course, there’s the ongoing friendly competition with CBD/Square Team Leader, Craig, to see who can claim the title of best-looking perennial garden. It’s all in good fun, but we understand the judging is taken very seriously.

Robyn’s passion doesn’t stop at the garden gate. She also spends time with community groups, sharing her knowledge about planting, pruning and what makes a garden flourish. People come away from her talks inspired – not just by her skill, but by her warmth and genuine love for what she does.

She’s worked on lots of gardens, parks and reserves across our city in collaboration with the rest of our parks team. 

Robyn’s work is a reminder of how much care and creativity go into making Palmy’s green spaces so special. Ka pai, Robyn – you’re helping our city bloom in every sense of the word.
