We want your feedback soon on the shortlisted routes and emerging technical preferred option for the Manawatū Regional Freight Ring Road.
This is part of the Indicative Business Case, which is an early planning stage to identify the preferred route that aims to make it easier and safer to move freight around the outskirts of Palmerston North and the wider Manawatū.
Feedback opens on Monday 12 October. You can give us your feedback at a community expo, or by looking at the maps and completing the online form once it goes live after the first expo session.

How we got to the shortlist
In December, we asked what you thought about a longlist of 26 possible route options across five sections of the ring road.
Since then, those longlist options have been assessed and combined into 12 whole-route shortlist options. Those 12 routes were then put through more detailed technical assessment and transport modelling, which has started to show where the technical evidence is pointing.
The emerging technical preferred option is not the preferred or final route. It’s a preliminary technical direction only that shows where the evidence is pointing so far.
Your feedback will form part of the evidence used to refine the options before a preferred route is confirmed.
